GTI Executive Director Speaks at GW-CIBER's Launch of the 2024 STAP Sweden Program

IMG_7382.JPG On January 23, the Executive Director of Sweden-US Green Transition Initiative, GTI, was honored to participate in the 2024 STAP Sweden program kickoff event at The George Washington University, hosted by GW-CIBER. This year's program focuses on the critical topic of green energy transitions—a focus area for GTI.

During the session, Linda Andrén, Executive Director, GTI, delivered a e presentation on the evolution of energy policies, tracing back to the energy crisis of the 1970s and the introduction of Sweden's carbon tax in 1991. The students engaged deeply with the material, raising thoughtful questions about companies' unique challenges and opportunities in the green sector, including cultural adaptations and business development strategies.

We are grateful to Anna Helm, PhD, Faculty Director of GW-CIBER and Associate Teaching Professor of International Business at George Washington University, for inviting us to this enriching event. We look forward to continuing our collaboration to foster education and dialogue around sustainable development.

The students in Professor Helm's course worked on US market entry projects for Swedish scaleups in the sustainable energy sector. This year's companies included Emulate, Mestro, Mine Storage, and NoviOcean, all of which collaborated with a team of 3-4 students from the George Washington University. After a semester of weekly virtual meetings and an impactful visit to Sweden during spring break in March, the teams presented their recommendations to the companies on April 2. All four clients also received an in-depth written consulting report detailing their respective market entry or expansion plan.
