A US delegation from the City of Annapolis, MD, and the State of Maryland has been visiting Sweden 🇸🇪 to examine alternative transportation methods and climate-neutral design, including electric ferries, focusing on their economic potential and contribution to climate goals.
The tour participants included the State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County, the City of Annapolis, the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC), Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, the Maryland Department of Commerce, and partnership organizations.
The delegation has visited Stockholm and Gothenburg, including site visits and discussions with manufacturers, transportation experts, urban planners, and research and government leaders, providing opportunities to learn about sustainable infrastructure, resilient solutions, and environmental management programs.
The Study Tour was financed entirely through private sponsorship and planned through the Anne Arundel Resilience Authority, with support from the Embassy of Sweden in USA and Sweden-US Green Transition, in collaboration with partners in Sweden like Smart City Sweden, Business Region Göteborg AB, Stockholm Business Region, Stockholms stad, and CITY OF GOTHENBURG. Visits included presentations from SEI — Stockholm Environment Institute, City of Stockholm, Candela, Vasakronan and Skanska, Envac, City of Gothenburg, City Hall of Gothenburg including a presentation from Deputy Mayor, Lindholmen Science Park, Future Mobility, Västtrafik, Styrsöbolaget, Cstrider, and Volvo Penta.
