Delegation to Dallas

GTI Delegation to Dallas, Texas

This week, Green Transition Initiative explored opportunities for collaboration in the rapidly growing city of Dallas, together with Volvo Construction Equipment, Alfa Laval, Husqvarna Construction, Comsys, and Viable Cities.

Dallas is the 9th largest city in the U.S., the top destination for headquarters relocation, a 2026 FIFA World Cup host, and home to the world’s second-busiest airport, set to grow from 88 to 100 million passengers. With this rapid expansion, the city is advancing an ambitious climate action plan, and during our visit we explored how sustainable solutions can support upcoming projects.

The wider Dallas–Fort Worth region mirrors this momentum as one of the nation’s fastest-growing construction markets, with $89 billion in annual commercial activity and 31 million sq ft of industrial construction underway. DFW is also a data-center powerhouse - fueling demand for sustainable building systems and low-emission construction solutions.

This visit would not have been possible without the exceptional support from the Honorary Consul for Sweden in Dallas. We were grateful for the warm welcome from the City of Dallas and for the insightful overview provided by the Dallas Economic Development Corporation. Our thanks also go to the team at the University of Texas at Arlington, who are developing cutting-edge cooling solutions for Nvidia and other data center industry leaders, as well as Inspire Dallas, who we had a valuable discussion with on opportunities within the convention center renovation and its sustainability vision.

Thank you also to the team at AT&T Stadium for sharing insights on Dallas’s preparations for FIFA World Cup 2026™ - Canada, Mexico and the United States and the sustainability ambitions for the event and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)-- North America’s first carbon-neutral airport.
